What being tall means to me

Being tall means a lifetime experience that is unusual, sometimes uncomfortable and often times unpredictable. Shopping for clothes is one of the challenges, but dealing with people is the biggest challenge for most tall women. I'm a tall woman, actually, I'm very tall woman. The way people react to me sometimes makes me feel certainly out of ordinary.

Growing up as a tall girl makes it a lot harder to fit in, so you slowly but surely learn to blend out instead of blending in. Every tall girl needs to realize it's a great way to be different and stand out. Extra attention can be very annoying at times, but overall, being tall has advantages.

So many people have told me they wish to be 6 ft tall because it looks good and slender. But being tall doesn't always means being thin. So many people assume just because someone is tall they have to be thin, but it's not always true. It's nice assumption but it isn't always.

Being tall means to me being unusual. It's so hard to meet women who have my shape, size and height. I am different. I feel better about it now than I did before though. Being older has it's pluses and minuses but growing up and being tall is very challenging and is not something any teenager would want to deal with.

Being tall means to me getting comments from complete strangers or hear them talk behind my back. People are trying to guess whether I play basketball or do any modeling or simply wonder why I am so tall. I don't mind people's comments as long as they are nice, but when someone asks "Being tall is blessing or curse?" isn't something I want to think about with a stranger. Physical appearance shouldn't be as important, I think. Women are a lot more sensitive about height comments and a lot nicer and sweeter, but men can be insensitive. Men want to be funny but in a wrong way. If you are a man and you want to attract a tall woman, joke about something else but not her height.

Being tall means to me trying to help other tall women to feel good about themselves and their appearance. I want to help all women feel good about themselves, not only tall, but also short, large or unusual.

Being tall means to me being the tallest anywhere I go. I'm usually the tallest woman in the room, especially if I wear high heels I definitely stand out. Being tall means to me having a harder time to find pants and jeans and long sleeve shirts or sweaters.

Being tall means to me having a different and unusual personality. I am more open minded about a lot of things because of my experience of being tall. I don't always make assumptions about anything if I didn't go trough with it.

Being tall does make you powerful and somewhat confident. Tall women are more likely to try new things, have some kind of need for adventure. I'm somewhat fearless because of my height. Because of my tall height I often associate myself with men than women, it doesn't really makes sense when you look at tall woman but it makes more sense if you are a tall woman.

Being tall is a big part of my life. I got many nice comments and compliments for being tall, but I also got plenty of weird looks and stares because of it too.

Being tall means to me a stressful but fun and unpredictable way of enjoying my life.
