How to tell if you are anorexic
Every time I visit my family, they always think that I look too thin. They like to put me on a scale to see how much I weigh and tell me that maybe I need to eat a little more. I am very tall and very skinny. I don't usually meet women of my height and weight, I have very rare and unique body type, but I was always this way.
I was the skinniest in my family, I ate the same food everyone ate and I just always stayed thin. The way I look makes my parents worry sometimes and they like to tell me to eat more or try to gain weight.
What do I think about it?
How to tell if you are anorexic or not? As far as my relationship with food...I do love to eat. I love food. I always eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and often snacks in between. In my opinion, if you eat a few meals a day, have lots of energy and aren't going hungry you should be o'kay.
Anorexic people often can't eat a lot no matter what, they want to control every little peace they put in mouth. If you have easy attitude toward food and you love food, it's probably not anorexia. Anorexic people can't easily swallow an extra peace of pizza or eat extra cone of ice cream.
Observe your relationship with your food.
Also you need to know that not only skinny people could suffer from anorexia. If a girl isn't skinny, average type or maybe even somewhat chubby she could have anorexia too. Some women eat very little or only once a day and they can't loose weight. So, just because someone is super skinny it doesn't mean they are hungry, looks can be deceiving unless it's something extreme.
But of course, if someone looks scary skinny (all bones sticking out), it's a dangerous sign.
Many women are obsessed with body image. I wish people would be more concerned about health than looks.
Personally, I rarely look in the mirror at my body, most of the time I just look at my face. I don't know why I'm not interested in looking at my body much, I guess maybe because I usually wear clothes :) so I can't really see my body.
Anyway, usually I'm more interested to look at my own face than any other parts of my body. I don't weight myself much either. Once in a while I will weigh myself just to see if anything changed but not that often.
Anorexic people (women or men) often think they look fat when they skinny. If you think you weight too much and you think you are fat when people tell that you are skinny, it could be a warning sign.
Living a healthy lifestyle should be priority for everyone. Being healthy and happy is more important that have a certain look I think.
Another way to tell if you are anorexic or not is to ask others. For example, go have lunch with someone you know well and ask them if they think you eat enough or look too skinny. Your friends could tell you something you don't know about yourself or they could confirm that you are alright.
If you are happy, eat at least 3 healthy meals a day, feel good and hopefully within your normal BMI range then you should be ok. It's always better to ask second opinion to make sure you are doing fine, especially if you are very tall or have unique body type.
It's better to consult your doctor and nutritionist if you can to find out their opinion about your health and your situation too.
Anorexia is a disease with a strong desire to control any food intake. If you suspect you have anorexia or if someone told you, better pay attention and try do something about it. Giving up control is not easy for anorexics because they have a distorted view on what is good for them.
